Tourism is currently reshaping the Icelandic landscape. Since my relocation to this country, I have become acutely aware of the number of issues that this industry raises – its environmental impact, the forces of gentrification and the commodification of natural sites and local culture, to name a few. The outcomes of the tourist boom will unfold over time; however, one thing is evident – the tourist has inevitably become part of the landscape.
